Bio
School: Lakeland Senior High School, FL
Drafted: Eligible for 2010 Draft
Scouting Report: Cabrera is an exceptionally strong 6-4, 190 lb shortstop from central Florida with a big league ready body. He has loose and athletic actions for his size and moves quickly to the ball at shortstop with very good balance. Cabrera's arm strength is easily in the plus MLB area on the pro scouting scale and he can make throws from all angles. Cabrera is a 6.65 runner underway, although heÕs more of a power player offensively and defensively. He has plus bat speed at the plate and projects to hit with plus power. Cabrera would also be a top pitching prospect if it weren't for his abilities as a position player; he touches 94-95 mph with his fastball and has a good feel for pitching. Cabrera's father, Basilio, is a minor league coach in the Detroit Tigers organization. He has made a verbal commitment to the University of Miami, but could be an early pick next June.
