Actually, he only lost once to FPD as my son took the first loss to them and not Dee. Dee lost to another team, I believe, Greater Gwinett earlier in the season.

Tom, I don't really think Deandre has faced weak competiton. This year he got beat by FPD twice. Once in the regular season and again for the State Championship. I wouldn't quite say that's weak compition.

Not only is Deandre an elite athlete but he's also an elite kid. What everyone is missing with Dee is that besides being a great high school pitcher he also is fantastic in the field and at the plate. Where scouts are only looking at him on the mound I believe they are missing where he will be best in MLB and that is CF. With all the emphasis put on his development on the mound and playing other sports, Dee has never been able to put the time in to be the hitter I believe he can be. That being said his stats this year included a 500avg, 10HR and 15 - 20 SB. Nearly all of this damage was done in his final 15 games where he hit at an amazing 700 clip. He played SS for his High School team out of necessity but played enough CF this year to make numerous Sportscenter type plays. I won't even comment on his arm from the outfield (best I've seen since Andre Dawson in his prime, Expo days). If a scout would compare him to Andruw Jones coming out of High School as a CF Dee would at least as fast, bigger, stronger, better arm, and at least as much raw power. Reps is all Deandre needs in the cage and at the plate to be a plus 5 tool player by Major League standards. Deandre is a high character person with a work ethic and selflessness to be great in any Major league organization. Whether he pitches or hits, Dee has a huge upside for greatness. Don't sell him short. Whatever team gets him, whether now or after three years at GTECH, they will have a great face for their respective franchise.

Judging the weak compettion he's facing in hs,Smelter needs to do more to separate himself at this point.
