Taijuan Walker Struggles At Jesse Flores All-Star Game

The third-annual Jesse Flores Memorial High School All-Star Game was this past weekend at Dedeaux Field on USC's campus and several possible first round draft picks in the upcoming 2010 MLB Draft were present.  A traditional nine inning game was contested between high school players from northern and souther California.  The South squad easily handled their northern counterparts, 14-3.

Pitcher Taijuan Walker, who had recently been praised for a very smooth throwing motion, looked stiff and forced during his stint in the game.  Command appeared to be a problem for Walker who at times appeared to be trying to place the ball in certain spots rather than simply pitching.  In spite of his difficulties, however, Walker was still able to throw his fastball 93-91 mph and flashed a very sharp curveball ranging from 74-73 mph.
