Arizona Picks Up Brandon Webb's Option

Despite making just one start for the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2009, the team has decided to pick up its $8.5M option on Brandon Webb for the 2010 season, espn.com is reporting.

"Since Brandon has recovered well from his surgery, we have decided to exercise his option," general manager Josh Byrnes said. "His accomplishments for our organization have been significant. We look forward to him returning to the mound."

The Diamondbacks would have had to pay a $2M buyout on Webb if they declined the option.
