MLB Draft Analysis: Strasburg Negotiations
Stephen Strasburg was the #1 pick of the 2009 MLB Draft. The hard part for the Nationals now is signing him. Here are some updates.
- Michael Wilbon of The Washington Post believes that picking Strasburg is a risk for the Nationals. Wilbon acknowledges that the reward is just as great.
- Ben Goessling of The Washington Times acknowledges that signing Strasburg is not going to be quick.
- Bill Conlin of The Philadelphia Daily News says that the Nationals need to make sure they sign Strasburg, no matter what the cost.
- John Shea of The San Francisco Chronicle thinks that it is the Nationals who have the leverage in the negotiations. He argues that Strasburg's stock can not get higher by holding out, it can only go down.
- Bill Shaikin of The Los Angeles Times writes that Scott Boras is sure to squeeze the Nationals as much as possible.
- Tracy Ringolsby of Fox Sports thinks that the Nationals do not have to sign Strasburg.
Signing Strasburg will be the priority for the Nationals this season...ahead of the 2009 season.
